- Correction. The home page said that randomness on this site came from the browser’s cryptographic generator. That is true of most of the tools and not of six of them — the crossword, word search, seating chart, blog title, lorem ipsum and glitch text generators use an ordinary pseudorandom source. The claim has been corrected and the full breakdown is on the methodology page.
- Removed the empty boxes labelled ADVERTISEMENT that appeared twice on every tool page. They reserved space for advertising that is not running, and interrupted the text for no benefit to anyone reading it.
- Added a category menu bar to the header, breadcrumbs on every page, and a Guides section listing every written guide on the site.
- Published five guides: running a prize draw people will accept as fair, weighting a draw without rigging it, checking a name is actually free to use, why generated names all sound the same, and why styled text breaks screen readers.
- Published a methodology page — where the word banks and data came from, which generator uses which source of randomness, and what is not checked by anything.
- Every page now shows the date its source last changed, taken from the repository rather than typed in.
- Rewrote the section headings across all 31 tool pages so that no two pages share one, and moved the limitations section on 14 of them so the pages stop following an identical running order.
- The home page briefly opened with a block promoting the guides. It pushed the tools down the page for people who came to use one, and has been removed.
Changelog
What has changed here, newest first. Fixes and corrections are included alongside new things, because a list of only the good news would not tell you much. Where something on the site turned out to be wrong, the entry says what it said and what it says now.
- Word search answer key: answers are now marked by fading the filler letters rather than drawing a box around each word, which was difficult to read on paper.
- Word search answer key now fits on a single page instead of spilling onto a second.
- Crossword printing: the grid was being scaled to the full width of the page, so a 15×15 puzzle overflowed A4. It is now capped to a fixed cell size.
- Added eight classroom guides covering the teaching decisions the printable tools cannot make for you, and a hub page so they can be browsed rather than only found through search.
- Added an ads.txt file authorising Google as a seller of this site’s advertising.
- Site published.
- Fixed printing: the site header, navigation and footer were being printed onto worksheets along with the worksheet.
- Fixed bingo and word search grid lines disappearing entirely when printed.
- Fixed the margins on printed worksheets, which were too tight for A4.
- Fixed a layout shift on the emoji generator, where the page jumped as results loaded.
